We rently came across a very cool series of articles on the Gold Home Party Blog.

This selling used gold series is about how to go about selling different types of broken and scrap gold one may have in their possession.

Specifically, gold bullion and gold bars, scrap and broken gold items, old gold jewelry and of course gold coins. There also was an article that discussed selling old gold by weight, or by the Carat.

• Selling Gold By the Carat: 10k, 14k, 16k, 18k, 22k, 24k Gold - In determining the purity of gold alloys, carat means a proportion by weight of one part in twenty four or 41.66 parts per 1000. This means that the higher the carat value, the higher the proportion of gold in relation to the base metal content.
• Selling Gold Bullion and Gold Bars - A 'bullion' means any precious metal (gold included) that is in a form whose 'primary value' comes from the actual worth of the metal and not from an artificial currency value. The most familiar forms of bullion are coins such as gold bullion coins, or bars such as gold bullion bars.
• Selling Scrap and Broken Gold Items by Weight - When selling your gold for scrap, obviously the condition of the gold item is of no importance. As long as there’s gold to be recovered, then it’s the ideal candidate for selling as scrap gold.
• Selling Old Gold Jewelry - Since the prices paid for scrap gold are based on just the value of the metal itself, while completely ignoring the craftmanship, aesthetic, antique, and sentimental value, it only makes sense that not all your old gold jewelry items are suitable to be sold off at a gold party as scrap gold.
• Selling Gold Coins - Gold coins are coins that consist mostly or entirely of gold. Gold coins are intended to be sold to collectors, or to be used as bullion coins or bullion currency.
